Plein Air Painting:   Learn the plein air ("in the open air") style of painting from life in the Blake Garden. Fridays 1:00 - 4:00 PM, 6 weeks starting April 6th. $130 / $105 UCB Students.
This class is through the ASUC Art Studio at UC Berkeley.

PAINTING JOURNEY - a meditative process

Classes held at the artist's studio, 2614 Vale Rd., San Pablo, Monday & Wednesday 6:30 - 9:30 pm , Fridays 9 - noon, or Sat. noon - 3. Cost - $30/3 hour session (Please contact Patrice to discuss discounts for ongoing multiple sessions.)

Bring your willingness to play... Painting is for all; talent is not a gift given to only a few. It is universal. Talent comes out of openness, to do the simple thing with integrity - a line, a scribble, a brush stroke. A rough image is the most creative response you can make because there is a freedom in not having to make things in perfect proportions.

If you are feeling blocked, overwhelmed or stressed, come paint. You will learn how to keep a painting going, with freedom from judgment. We will discuss the process, not the paintings, and how to stay inspired to paint outside of the classroom.

Painting as process provides an opportunity for self-discovery and inner exploration in a creative endeavor without focusing on the end result. The process allows one to focus on feelings and a sense of curiosity rather than techniques, talent or skill. It isn't necessary to have a background in art, composition, design or color.

Materials:
Paint & paper will be provided for a fee of $5.
Please bring to class:

• Water container
• Watercolor brushes (at least 2 round brushes of different sizes)
• Ice tray or paint pan or pallet for paints.
• Clip Board (18 x 24 inch preferred)

Bio: Patrice has been painting for over 20 years, studying art at many local colleges. She completed the Masters Class of the Point Zero Painting Experience with Michelle Cassou in Sept. 2006. Her work has received awards in many local exhibits and shows and she is a member of the California Watercolor Society, Pinole Artisians, and ProArts.

For Patrice, art offers balance, solace, and a way to share hope and vision . . . creating and teaching. She has been on a journey, immersed in the creative flow brought about by the movement of paint and brush on paper. Her goal is to convey her enthusiasm for the creative process.
